私はどうぶつの絵を描いています。
子供が集めた動物フィギュアを机に並べ、位置や組み合わせを変えながら実際に見て紙にボールペンデッサンをしています。
見えない対話や、ものあいだに流れる空気や景色の始まりのような絵などを卓上の小さな世界の中で描いています。

うごかない既成のおもちゃを描き写すというだけのことが、描画や配置によっていきいきとしてくるのが面白いと感じています。

-about my work-

I draw children and animals.
I feel that a rich world exists beyond the reach of words. Through daily observation, I depict unseen dialogues and the subtle presence that flows within tabletop scenes, within a radius of about thirty centimeters.
I am drawn to compositions where a small world contains the flow of vast time.

On drawing animal figurines
I arrange and combine pre-made animal figurines collected by children, as if playing with them, to create scenes that I then draw.
The rigid, inorganic toys reveal organic warmth and irregular distortions when interpreted through human hand and pen.
When rendered on paper, the process brings life to these manufactured objects. What is alive is not the motif itself, but the act of drawing.
